Stage Art Team Competition Notes:

Dance / Drama performance to a devised soundtrack around a theme and/or message
Maximum of 100 onstage performers per team.
Maximum of 20 stage crew.
Maximum of 6 minute music duration.
Maximum of 3 minutes set up, 3 minutes to clear stage.
Set and props to be venue appropriate and practical in size and storage- all items must fit through a 2.1 x 1.2 imaginary doorway . Crew have 3minutes for preset before their performance and 3minutes to strike set.
Lighting is venue dependent- available on request.
Student Reps for hosting and student security (from your cast / crew and / or senior school) will be required for each team- this information will be collected after entries close.
One entry per school permitted in any age group Yr 3-6, Yr 7/8, Yr 9-13, Open (Yr 3-13).
Judged three ways: Dance Art- choreography and performance, Dramatic Art- direction and portrayal, Design Art- concept and effect.
All themes welcome remembering your family audience in their delivery.
Budget- creativity and effect will be awarded above expense - this is a non-financial returning production, not a school show with the opportunity to get return from ticket sales and your budget should reflect this.
Each school team's rehearsal time will be assigned when entries close.
Rehearsal time will be between 10 minutes per entry depending on number of entries.

Cost to school per team/entry is $30 Please see Dancer / Dancer Development section below as all onstage performers need to registered (and have the option of participating in workshops they will love!) by a school representative, the cost to be registered is $25 per student i.e. 50 students @ $25 plus $30 for actual entry = $1280.
Should you wish to not participate in workshops the registration fee per performer becomes $10, your rehearsal time will be around 4.30pm and you will be welcome in the venue 1 hour before your rehearsal i.e. 50 students @$10 plus $30 for actual entry = $530

Dancer / Performer + Dancer Development Workshop Notes:

All stage performers (and teachers-optional!) participate in up to 3 x 30-45 minute workshops covering three genres/aspects of dance/performance on the day. These are venue / timetable dependent.
Workshops will be held in the Rehearsal Rooms, on stage or at studios/halls within 5 minutes from Venues.
We realise many schools are developing younger teams and/or have dancers who miss out on team placement at audition time, however show huge potential. These dancers are catered for with our Dance Development Programme where they come for the days programme including joining in the workshops, have the opportunity to help competition preparation at the venue if needed and then sit out front and support their school enjoying being inspired by all the schools performances.
Cost:
Dancer / Performer (for our competing performers):
$25 per dancer or performer - includes day/evening programme and workshops.
Dance Development Dancer (for non-competing dancers):
$35 per dancer includes discounted day programme, workshops and reduced priced ticket to competition.

Maximum of 2 minute music duration.
Since 2018: Your solo must be original to our Interschool event.
Since 2018: 1 solo per student – all danced in Year groups (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).
Judged on technique, commitment, emotion, physical execution, choreography and more.
All genres of dance accepted.
Entries will be presented at your Regional on stage or in the workshop venue dependent on the day’s scheduling.
Presentations will be made in each Year group (2nd runner up, 1st runner up and Champion) with the three overall top scoring entries ‘performing’ during the evening show. These three dancers/entries will represent their Region at Nationals with the opportunity of winning the fabulous trip to LA thanks to SHE SHINES ON Dance Tours.

Cost: $15 per Solo competition entry.
Your Solo: Our solo entries must be unique to the Interschool- ie never have been performed in any other competition (they can have been part of a school showcase / assessment). Please remember we are not PACANZ or part of any other competition circuit, your solo entry must not be either.
Duo and Trio Competition Notes:

Now at Regional and/or National Level- dancers can choose to compete Regionally and/or Nationally- simple register for one or both.
Presentations will be made in each Year group (2nd runner up, 1st runner up and Champion) plus top scoring overall champion who will ‘perform’ at Nationals.

ALL ENTRIES: Ensure your music and dance content is suitable for GA audiences, and age appropriate for dancers performing the entry- DanceNZmade reserves the right to remove unsuitable entries from the programme- unsure, check with us. Be inspired by all you see and do but ensure your work is your own, like it or love it but please don’t copy it- DanceNZmade reserves the right to remove ‘copied’ entries from the programme- unsure, check with us. This competition is for school based choreography only- choreography created for school based groups by amateurs or professionals. |
For Your Fan Base:
Audience Tickets are sold through normal venue outlets - we will advise each region’s schools when they are available. Please note that ticket prices vary around the country as they are dependent on venue cost
Complimentary Tickets:
At competition/show time we encourage teaching staff to be back stage and all other supporters out front to give our dancers an audience. For this reason we do not provide complimentary tickets. Please support our event by purchasing your tickets early to avoid queues, missing the beginning of the show and risk of a full house with no door sales available.
